Oregon Mr Longears Board of Directors meeting was held Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Pioneer Villa Restaurant. Board members present were Del Orchard, Patty Stodola, Jessica Bishop, Frances Hathaway, Barby Giddeon, Denny Strong & Lee Gallaher. Guests were Marlene Orchard, Bonni Strong, Jim Hathaway, Cindy Crogan, Jeanne Hanson & Shelby Bishop.

Meeting was called to order at 12:00 noon by President Del Orchard. Minutes of the last meeting were accepted as published in the newsletter. Treasury has a balance of $3070.83 in checking and $7590.49 in CD. We have six memberships paid since the last meeting.

Correspondence - Jessica read a lettter she received from Leroy & Mary Churchill thanking the club for recognizing Nancy at last year's Roseburg Show.

Chapter reports - Southern Chapter - Lee says they have had no meetings since Christmas and none are scheduled at this point.

Central Valley Chapter - Patty reported their packing clinic last week was a success and they plan to do it again in March of 2009. Snow is hampering their work on the trails right now.

Northwest Chapter - Cindy says they meet and eat but also discuss some equestrain activities.

At large - Barby reported the planes are coming together for the Wheeler County Mule Show to be held on July 18 - 20, 2008, in Fossil.

Old Business

Discussion was held about our wish to change the date of the annual meeting. In order to change the date, a vote must be taken at the next annual meeting. Notices will be put in the newsletter prior to that meeting telling members a vote will be taken on a by-law change at that meeting.

Roseburg Show - Jessica says they are looking for local judges to keep travel costs down. They have some prospects and are asking them to get their AMA & NMDA judging cards. They have scheduled 94 classes and have revamped the awards that have been given in the past. They are planning to give buckles to high point amateur mule, NMDA and a special award, six high score awards, four halter championships and awards for green and open in Western & English as well as youth awards. The plan is to give gift cards for first place again as well as ribbons to fifth place.

They will have a concession stand in place this year. They have eliminated the show manager position to help costs. Gaming classes will be held on Sat night starting at 4:00 PM and will be open to horses. Prizes will be by jackpot and we're hopin this will bring in lots of local people to play. They are proposing a flat rate to enter all classes that night that will enable families to enter all their kids at a resonable rate.

Frances asked that each board member be responsible for getting at least 13 sponsors from their area. Dates for the show this year are Aug 222-24, 2008.

Help for Lee - Bonni Strong has volunteered to learn the ropes and eventually take over the position of secretary/treasurer.

New Business

Klamath Falls packing clinic. Lee hasn't seen any info from High Desert Trail Riders about a booth, but will check on the situation and let the board members know.

Next meeting will be May 3, 2008 at about 4:00 PM at the Klamath Falls Packing Clinic. We will find a place after we get to the clinic

Final discussion was held about decorations for our booth at the Horse Afair to be held at the Expo in Albany next week. Lee moved we spend $100 on supplies to use for the stall decorations. Barby seconded and the motion, carried. Jessica will purchase the supplies.

Meeting was adjourned at 1:00 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Lee Gallaher

Secretary-Treasurer
